Martial Arts Classes For Kids, Teens, Adults, and Families

From your tiniest Ninja Shark to your teen who needs a challenge that actually holds their attention, every program at Action Karate Collingswood is built around age, ability, and real-life growth.

Adult Martial Arts Classes

You’ve put everyone else first. It’s your turn. Our adult classes are a full-body workout and a reset for your mind. No prior experience needed, no ego at the door. Collingswood adults train alongside a community that shows up, pushes each other, and has a great time doing it. Expect stronger focus, better stress management, and the kind of quiet confidence that carries into every part of your life.

Kids Martial Arts Classes

Our kids’ programs aren’t just about kicks and forms, they’re about teaching children how to carry themselves. Students in our Kids’ Classes learn discipline, focus, and respect in a structured, fun environment. Parents regularly tell us: the mat is where it happens, and the dinner table is where they see it.

Ninja Sharks Ages 3 to 6 Classes

Three-year-olds have big feelings and even bigger energy. Our Ninja Sharks program channels that energy into something incredible: age-appropriate movement, listening skills, and early confidence-building in a safe, encouraging space. Classes are short, structured, and designed for the way small children actually learn: through play, repetition, and joy.

Special Needs Martial Arts Classes

Every child deserves to feel successful on the mat. Action Karate Collingswood offers inclusive instruction that meets students where they are. Sensei Tariq uses visual cues, patient repetition, and modified techniques to support students with a wide range of learning differences. We are proud partners of Lucy Outreach, Rutgers Future Scholars, and Camden CMO, organizations that share our belief that martial arts is for everyone.

Birthday Parties

Skip the bounce house. Give your child a birthday they’ll actually talk about at school on Monday. Action Karate birthday parties are high-energy, instructor-led, and completely handled by our team so you can relax and enjoy the celebration too. It’s the kind of party that doubles as a first taste of karate, and more than a few party guests have ended up enrolling shortly after.

Why Action Karate

Why Action Karate Collingswood?

We’re not just another after-school activity. We’re the place where Collingswood kids show up shy and leave standing taller.

A Community School

Action Karate Collingswood has been part of this neighborhood since 2022. We know our students by name, we know their struggles, and we celebrate every breakthrough from the first cartwheel to the black belt ceremony. Our space was literally built inside a former church, and we carry that spirit of community into every class we teach.

Instructors Who Actually Care

Sensei Tariq Boston is a 2nd-degree black belt with 8 years in martial arts and 7 years teaching at Action Karate. He came from a background of football, baseball, and track and chose martial arts because he saw how it changes people. Every class he teaches is an extension of that mission: spreading the joy of martial arts and giving students the confidence they carry for life.

Proven Results for Kids of All Abilities

We serve students from across Collingswood, Haddonfield, Camden, and surrounding communities, including students with special needs, students who've never tried anything like this before, and students who started as quiet kids in the back row and are now leading the class. Our track record speaks for itself.

I 10000% recommend Action Karate in Collingswood. They are amazing instructors. I love the way they teach their students. Very patient, friendly and funny. They make you feel welcome and like family. My daughter has somewhat trouble in making friends, but since she started Action Karate she has been motivated to meet new people and also to defend herself.

My 4-year-old loves the Ninja class. The instructors are phenomenal. They meet each child at their level and build their confidence and instill discipline. Each class is structured in way that keeps the kids engaged, yet challenged. I would recommend Action Karate to any parent.

Everyone at Action Karate has made my daughter (and my family) feel like part of their team. It’s been that way since her first day. The instructors are clearly committed to teaching children and do a really great job at giving attention to each child in the class. My daughter has learned physical skills but also grit, respect and discipline. We love Action Karate!

My family LOVES Action Karate! It’s a wonderful and welcoming community that embraces all skill levels, but still encourages focus, hard work, and a growth mindset. A bonus: super duper fun birthday parties!

We love this place...our son started from a Halloween giveaway. He has now been enrolled for 3 months and is a yellow belt. His sensei is well educated and hands on with the kids. We're enjoying our journey to the black belt. We joined to learn how to deal with bullies and ended up learning so much more. This maybe the best thing for your child too! Check it out!

We measure success differently here. Yes, belts matter. But what really counts is the kid who listens the first time, the teenager who helps a younger student without being asked, and the adult who shows up at 6 AM because they made a commitment to themselves. That’s what we’re building.
We work hard to make Action Karate accessible to every child, including students with special needs. Our partnerships with Lucy Outreach, Rutgers Future Scholars, and the Camden CMO are not afterthoughts. They’re part of who we
There’s something special about training in a former church. The high ceilings, the sense of purpose in the walls, it gives our dojo a character you can feel the moment you walk in. We didn’t just open a location. We built a home for Collingswood families.
We’ve been part of this community since 2022, and we’ve already built relationships with seven local organizations, three schools, and a growing roster of families who’ve watched their children transform in ways they didn’t expect.

I love being able to spread the knowledge and joy of martial arts and to give students confidence.

This location has an unusual and distinctive home: a converted historic church building that gives the school a warmth and presence unlike most martial arts facilities. We've been part of the Collingswood community since 2022 and are building strong roots here.
We offer classes across the week for students of different ages and schedules. Use the form on this page to get our current timetable.
