Every Class Here Has a Purpose Beyond the Mat

Whether your child is taking their first bow or your teen is chasing a black belt, every program at Action Karate Mt. Airy is designed around one thing: helping your child become the best version of themselves. From our tiniest Ninja Sharks to our adult students, we meet every learner where they are.

Adult Martial Arts Classes

You don’t have to be a kid to start. Our adult program builds real-world fitness, self-defense skills, and the kind of mental discipline that spills into every part of your life. No prior experience needed, just the willingness to show up.

Kids Martial Arts Classes

Structured. Energizing. Transformative. Our kids’ classes teach focus, respect, and perseverance through movement, skills your child will use in school, at home, and beyond. Parents notice the difference after just a few weeks.

Ninja Sharks Ages 3 to 6 Classes

Big personalities, small bodies, and endless energy. Our Ninja Sharks program channels that energy into listening skills, coordination, and confidence all wrapped in the kind of fun that makes three-year-olds ask to come back every week.

Special Needs Martial Arts Classes

Action Karate Mt. Airy has a proud history of opening its doors to every student, including one of the first-ever black belts in the country with aphasia. We adapt our teaching to every learner, because every child deserves a place to grow.

Birthday Parties

Make their birthday one they’ll actually remember. Our Mt. Airy birthday party package brings the energy of the dojo to your celebration with mini lessons, games, and all the high-kicks and high-fives your crew can handle.

Why Action Karate

Mt. Airy Parents Choose Us for a Reason

This isn’t just a place to burn energy after school. It’s a place where kids learn to look adults in the eye, shake hands with confidence, and try again after they fall. Here’s what sets us apart:

A training hall unlike anywhere else in Philadelphia

Step onto our 3,000 sq ft mat and you'll notice something unusual on the walls: the signatures and memorabilia of legends like Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee, Jalen Hurts, Sylvester Stallone, and Ralph Macchio. It's a daily reminder to every student that greatness is possible, and it starts right here.

Instructors who see every child as an individual

Our team doesn't use a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether your child is shy, energetic, behind, or ahead, they'll be coached in the way that actually works for them, with patience, encouragement, and high expectations.

A community that shows up

From the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District to local PTAs, scout troops, and elected officials, we're embedded in this neighborhood. When your child trains here, they're joining a school that's part of something bigger.

Our Space

The Mt. Airy Martial Arts Facility

This isn’t a cookie-cutter studio. With 6,000 square feet of dedicated training space and a museum-worthy collection of martial arts memorabilia, Action Karate Mt. Airy is one of the most distinctive training environments in the entire Action Karate network.

We’ve had a wonderful experience at Action Karate. The instructors are patient, structured, and truly invested in the children’s growth—not just physically, but emotionally as well. My child has gained confidence, discipline, and better focus since starting.

The environment is positive, encouraging, and organized. Communication with parents is clear and consistent. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a supportive and empowering activity for their child

I joined the Adult classes at Action Karate two plus years ago expecting to build some skills in self-defense. That happened but so much more did too! I found an awesome community of supportive people who clearly want their students to be confident in how they move and think in potentially dangerous situations. I am 57 and feel much stronger and more confident in my ability to respond should a confrontation occur. I am a brown belt now and not too far from becoming a black belt. It’s been an amazing experience.

Action Karate is awesome!! It's more than just Karate when you join, you become part of one big family ❤️ I like that my daughter is able to log into zoom when I'm unable to take her in-person because of my job so she is still able to not miss lessons. Everyone is always willing to assist.. And if my daughter miss a few classes you better believe they will check in to see if everything is ok. I love that😁 Thank you Action Karate Mt Airy!!

Action Karate Mount Airy is absolutely amazing! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the positive energy and sense of community. The instructors are not only skilled martial artists but also fantastic mentors who genuinely care about each student's growth both on and off the mat.
They do an incredible job of balancing discipline with fun, making classes engaging for kids while also teaching valuable life skills like respect, focus, and confidence.
Since my son Brandon started at Action Karate in 2023, he has made tremendous growth. Not just physically, but also in his confidence and mindset. He’s pushed himself outside of his comfort zone, taken on new challenges, and developed strong teamwork and leadership skills along the way.
The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Whether you're looking for a great activity for your child, or even considering training yourself, I highly recommend Action Karate Mount Airy.

Our Story

Active in the Mt. Airy Community Since 2017

Action Karate Mt. Airy has spent nearly a decade doing more than teaching kicks and blocks. We’ve become a genuine fixture in this neighborhood. We’re the kind of place parents trust, kids look forward to, and the community rallies behind.

We’ve trained students of every ability level, including one of the first-ever black belts in the country living with aphasia. Inclusion isn’t a program. It’s how we operate.
Earning a black belt at Action Karate Mt. Airy is not a participation trophy. It’s the result of real commitment, consistent training, and genuine growth. That we average 30 new black belts per year is something this community has earned together.
We’re proud recipients of the Love Award: Best of Philly, a recognition voted by the people who know this city best. Our neighbors.
Through the Action Scholarship Fund, our school has raised thousands of dollars to ensure that financial barriers never prevent a motivated child from training. Every dollar raised stays close to home.

Martial arts helped shape my confidence, discipline, and mindset growing up, and I wanted to be able to pass that on and make that same impact on my students.
