Where Bucks County Kids Discover Confidence, Discipline, and a Love of Showing Up

Every program at Action Karate Newtown is built around one idea: your child or you should leave each class feeling stronger than when you walked in. Whether your child is three years old and figuring out how to stand still, or you’re an adult looking to move, challenge yourself, and build real self-defense skills, there’s a place on our mat for you.

Adult Martial Arts Classes

Life is busy. Between work, family, and everything else, it’s easy to put yourself last. Our adult program gives you a physical outlet, a mental reset, and practical self-defense skills, all in a welcoming environment where you’ll never feel judged for being a beginner. Train at your own pace, compete if you want to, or just come to feel good.

Kids Martial Arts Classes

Karate is about far more than kicks and blocks. Our kids’ classes build the kind of character that shows up at school, at the dinner table, and on the playground. Students learn to focus, set goals, handle frustration, and respect others, wrapped in a format that’s genuinely fun and challenging enough to keep them coming back.

Ninja Sharks Ages 3 to 6 Classes

Tiny humans, big milestones. Our Ninja Sharks program meets your little one exactly where they are, teaching them to listen, follow directions, take turns, and move their bodies in healthy ways. It’s structured enough to build skills and playful enough that they’ll ask to come back every week.

Special Needs Martial Arts Classes

Every child deserves the chance to grow on the mat. Our instructors adapt their teaching for students with a range of learning and physical needs, adjusting pace, instruction style, and goals so every student experiences genuine progress and real pride. This isn’t a modified program. It’s the same commitment to growth, tailored to each individual student.

Birthday Parties

Skip the same-old pizza party. Give your child a birthday they’ll talk about for months: an action-packed karate celebration right here at our Newtown school. We handle the fun so you can just enjoy the moment. Available for all ages; reach out to our team to book your date.

Why Action Karate

There Are So Many Great Reasons to Choose Us

There are plenty of after-school activities in Newtown. Here’s why families keep choosing us and why students stay for years, not weeks.

Real Skills That Transfer Beyond the Mat

The focus a child builds in class shows up when they're doing homework. The discipline they practice during drills shows up when they don't want to clean their room but do it anyway. The confidence earned with each new belt shows up in how they carry themselves at school. We're not just teaching karate, we're building habits that last.

Instructors Who Know Your Child By Name

You'll never feel like a number here. At Action Karate Newtown, our instructors track each student's progress individually and celebrate every breakthrough, whether it's a timid three-year-old finally stepping onto the mat solo or a red belt earning their black belt after years of hard work. The relationship between student and instructor is the heartbeat of what we do.

A Proven System With Real Results

Action Karate's curriculum has been refined across 35+ locations over decades. It's not guesswork. It's a structured progression that balances challenge and encouragement. Our Newtown demo team won their division at the 2025 Action Karate Invitational, and in December 2025, a full class of red belts crossed the finish line together and earned their black belts. That's the system working.

We’ve had an incredible experience with Action Karate Newtown. My daughter has been here in some capacity since she was four years old, and she’s now preparing to test for her black belt in a few months. Over the years, we’ve seen so much growth—not just in strength and skill, but in confidence, discipline, and leadership. She’s learned how to set goals, work hard, and encourage others, and that has carried over into every part of her life.

My youngest is currently a Ninja Shark, and the instructors are amazing with the younger kids. They’re patient, energetic, and know exactly how to keep them engaged while still teaching respect, focus, and basic skills in a fun, age-appropriate way.

What really sets this studio apart is how much they care about the kids as individuals. They build them up, meet them wherey they are, and help them become the best versions of themselves, on and off the mat. We’re so grateful to be part of this community and couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Action Karate Newtown has provided the perfect balance of fun and structure for our son. From day one he felt comfortable as all the instructors knew his name, made sure he felt included, and had fun. It also reinforces weekly reminders of the importance of respect and confidence while learning self defense techniques and having fun. Action Karate has become a part of our weekly routine in the best way possible!

Outstanding experience at Action Karate Newtown! Instructors are inspiring, the program builds character, and our son has thrived both mentally and physically.

Detailed Review:
Our son has been attending Action Karate Newtown for over a year, and it has been an incredible journey—physically, mentally, and emotionally. The instructors, especially Master Jay and Miss Alex, are phenomenal. Their energy, consistency, and ability to connect with each child truly set this dojo apart. Scheduling is flexible and accommodating, making it easy for busy parents.

Our son has progressed through several belts (currently orange, working toward purple), and what he’s learned here extends far beyond martial arts. It’s shaped his attitude, work ethic, and mental resilience. A moment that really stood out: on the way to a recent tournament, I asked how he’d feel if he didn’t win. He recalled a story from Master Jay about the Good Wolf and the Bad Wolf, and said he’d choose to feed the good wolf—focus, determination, and positivity. That mindset is a direct result of his training at Action Karate.

The environment is structured, welcoming, and highly encouraging. The leadership team—including higher-level belts—actively supports newer students, and every child is greeted and treated with individual attention.

Action Karate Newtown truly lives by its creed:
“To build true confidence, I must have knowledge in the mind, honesty in the heart, and strength in the body. Winners never quit. Quitters never win. I choose to be a black belt.”

I wholeheartedly recommend Action Karate Newtown to any family looking to instill discipline, confidence, and resilience in their child.

Our Story

Connected by Community, Led by Purpose

Action Karate Newtown has been part of this community since 2008, long before most after-school activity providers even knew this neighborhood existed. What started as a single school with a simple mission has grown into a trusted fixture of Bucks County family life, with students who began as shy four-year-olds now returning as teen black belts and junior instructors. That kind of continuity doesn’t happen by accident.

At Action Karate Newtown, the goal has never been to produce perfect students, it’s to produce growth. Every promotion, every belt test, every small breakthrough in class is recognized and celebrated because that recognition is what keeps kids motivated and coming back.
For students who want to take it further, our demo team competes at Action Karate tournaments and has the hardware to show for it. In the fall of 2025, our demo team won their division at the Action Karate Invitational, a reflection of the high standards our instructors hold and the dedication our students bring.
In December 2025, a full class of red belts crossed the finish line together and earned their black belts. These are students who started as beginners, stuck with the process through every hard class and plateau, and came out the other side with something real. That’s what we’re building here.
From local business partnerships to community events throughout the year, Action Karate Newtown is woven into the fabric of this town. We show up: at St. Mary’s events, at Newtown Business Association gatherings, at local festivals because being a community school means more than renting space in a strip mall.

I love watching them grow and celebrating their wins is one of my favorite parts of teaching
