About me
Ashley came to martial arts through her son, and what started as a parent watching from the sidelines quickly turned into a calling. Before joining the Telford dojo, she spent years playing competitive softball and rowing on a college crew team, so she knows what it takes to commit to something fully.
She also works full time for a local school bus company, driving routes and managing the office, which gives her a unique insight into the kids she coaches every single day. Now a 1st degree black belt with four years of teaching experience, Ashley brings patience, perspective, and real warmth to every class she leads.
Teaching philosophy
Ashley’s approach starts with one simple belief: a small improvement is still an improvement. She puts the basics first, not because they are easy, but because they are the foundation everything else is built on.
Too often, students rush past the fundamentals and find themselves lost when the material gets more demanding. Ashley makes sure that never happens. She slows things down, explains concepts from different angles, and gives students the time they actually need to absorb what they are learning.
And she does not compare students to each other. In her classes, the only benchmark that matters is the version of yourself who walked in that day. Kids come with different backgrounds, different learning styles, different starting points. Some need to hear something twice. Some need to see it from a completely different angle before it clicks.
Ashley has seen that firsthand as a school bus driver, meeting children from across the Telford community day in and day out. She brings that same ground-level understanding to the mat, and it shows. Her students leave class not just knowing what to do, but understanding why it works.
