Devin Sinclair

About me

Devin has been part of the Action Karate family for six years, bringing with him seven years of martial arts experience and a first-degree black belt earned through real dedication to the craft. As Program Director at Royersford, he came to the mat with a clear purpose: to pass on the lessons that training gave him: not just the kicks and forms, but the mindset shifts that stick with you long after class ends. Away from the dojo, you’ll find him at the gym, working on his car, or deep into a video game, a reminder that great instructors are people first.

Areas of expertise

Devin specializes in youth development through martial arts, with a particular passion for the youngest students, the Ninja Sharks, where foundational habits and character are shaped earliest. What Program Director Sinclair can do for you:
  • Turns distraction into focus
  • Teaches that persistence matters more than any single result
  • Inclusive teaching approach
  • Generosity of spirit: patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your progress

Teaching philosophy

Devin’s philosophy starts with a simple belief: learning is supposed to be unpredictable. No two students pick up a new skill the same way, and no two classes unfold exactly as planned. And that’s not a problem to be solved. It’s the whole point. Rather than delivering a fixed curriculum and hoping students keep up, Devin stays present, reads the room, and adjusts until something clicks. This means slowing down for the student who needs more repetition, finding a new way to explain something to the student who’s been staring blankly, and celebrating the messy in-between moments that most people don’t notice but that are actually where the real growth happens. Devin was drawn to teaching because he wanted to share what martial arts gave him: not just technique, but confidence, resilience, and the belief that hard work compounds. He carries that motivation into every session. For the youngest students especially, he knows that what he’s building isn’t just a skill set. It’s a relationship with effort itself and that lasts a lifetime.
