About me
Jason came to martial arts the way many parents do: through his kids. But where most parents cheer from the sidelines, Jason stepped onto the mat. What started as a desire to be fully present in his children’s lives grew into a genuine passion for teaching and a 2nd Degree Black Belt earned over six years of dedicated training. Before the dojo, Jason spent more than two decades in construction and heavy equipment operation, work that demanded precision, patience, and a strong work ethic. He brings all of that grit and groundedness to every class at Action Karate Telford.
Teaching philosophy
Jason believes the best training sessions are ones where students leave feeling better about themselves than when they walked in. His approach is rooted in consistency. He shows up with the same high energy and positive attitude every single class, because he knows students feed off that environment. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, he pays close attention to where each student is cognitively and physically, then finds the angle that makes the material click for them.
For Jason, martial arts is less about mastering any single technique and more about learning to take a hit, literally and figuratively, and keep moving forward. His favorite age group is adults, because adult students choose to be there. They walk in with goals, with drive, and with a genuine desire to improve. That motivation creates a training dynamic Jason finds deeply rewarding, and he works hard to match his students’ commitment with his own. He’s not just teaching karate. He’s helping people discover what they’re capable of when they stop holding back.
