Ms. Lisa Crego brings a decade of martial arts experience and five years of dedicated teaching to the mat at Action Karate Marlton. Holding a 2nd Degree Black Belt, she has a natural gift for connecting with the youngest students, her heart belongs to the Ninja Sharks, where three- and six-year-olds take their very first steps in martial arts. Outside the dojo, Lisa is a devoted reader and a family-first person, and those values show in every class she runs: patient, warm, and always in your child’s corner.

There’s a quote Ms. Lisa lives by, borrowed from Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Rickson Gracie: “If size mattered, the elephant would be king of the jungle.” It’s a reminder she carries onto the mat every single day. In her classes, especially with the youngest students, she knows that heart, consistency, and encouragement matter far more than natural ability or physical size. Every child who walks through the door at Action Karate Marlton starts at zero, and that’s exactly where Ms. Lisa meets them.
Her approach is built on patience: giving children the time and space to try, to stumble, and to try again. She believes that the habits formed in those early years by showing up, listening, doing hard things anyway, lay the groundwork for a lifetime of confidence. When a three-year-old finally holds a proper stance or bows with intention for the first time, that moment is everything. It’s not about martial arts. It’s about what that child now believes they can do.
