Mackenzie began her training at 6 years old at Action Karate in Northeast Philadelphia. When we moved a few months later, we transferred to Action Karate Chalfont where she has continued to grow and thrive. She began karate to help her build her self-confidence develop her perseverance. The instructors made sure that happened in a way that has made her feel so incredibly supported! She is now 10 and still loves coming every week, she even had the courage to try sparring this year! I still can’t believe the.6 year old who barely spoke will now get up in front of the class and demonstrate or get out on the tournament mat and give it her all. We love Action Karate!

My son Noah started at Action Karate Chalfont around the age of 4. The first time for class, he wouldn’t even step on the mat. As you can imagine this was pretty frustrating for both of us. To make matters worse, my growing frustration made him even more reluctant to get onto the mat. Mr. M was watching all of this and he came over and gave me a pep talk and then turned his attention to Noah. Eventually he got Noah on the mat and calmed me down as well. The next few classes, Noah was still hesitant, but Mr. M's pep talk to me helped me to relax and help Noah. Eventually Noah got onto the mat and he even enjoyed class. Fast forward to now, Noah is 9 years old and still attending class. He's participated in four Action Karate tournaments and medaled (1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 1st) in all of them. This year he's testing for his blackbelt. It's so encouraging to see how he and myself have grown in this journey. We definitely couldn't have done it alone. I shout out all the Action Karate instructors who've guided Noah this far in his martial arts studies. I can't wait to see what's next for Noah!!

My daughter has been training at Action Chalfont since 2021. We signed her up because we wanted to teach her confidence and grit. She was extremely shy, speaking in a whisper during class, and she struggled interacting with friends. Since starting karate, she has blossomed into a confident, resilient kid with a ton of friends. Now, in fourth grade, she chose to run for student counsel, which required her to write and give a speech to her class about why they should vote for her. Prior to karate, she would never have considered this. What a change karate has made in her life, and it is in no small part because of the wonderful instructors at Action Karate Chalfont. They really care about the kids and work hard to push the kids to do better and be better in every aspect of life.

What is the style of martial arts that you teach?

At Action Karate Chalfont, we teach Tang Soo Do — a Korean martial art with a strong emphasis on discipline, focus, and real self-defence skills. Chalfont has been part of the community since 1998, and what the school is particularly known for is its instructors' ability to understand how individual students learn. Instructor Krista Barlow, a 4th Degree Black Belt with 15 years in the martial arts and 8 years at Action Karate, brings a deeply adaptive teaching approach to every class. She's seen students who are not naturally athletic or confident reach levels they never believed they could reach — and that kind of track record matters.

When can I attend classes at Action Karate Chalfont?

What should I wear to my first class?

No special gear needed on your first visit to Action Karate Chalfont. Comfortable, loose clothing you can move in is fine — your uniform (gi) is included in the $49 intro offer. Bare feet on the mat, no shoes required.

Who are the classes suitable for?

Chalfont runs programs from age 3 through to adults, and has been doing so since 1998. We serve families from Butler Elementary, St Jude's, Pine Run, Montgomery, Millcreek, and Bridle Path Elementary schools, and we're proud supporters of Central Bucks School District, North Penn School District, and St Jude's Elementary.
