More Than Kicks and Punches . We Build People.

Whether your child is three years old and barely knows left from right, or you’re an adult who keeps saying “one day I’ll try martial arts” that one day is today. At Action Karate Huntingdon Valley, we meet every student exactly where they are and help them become someone they’re proud of. No experience needed. No perfect shape required. Just a willingness to show up.

Adult Martial Arts Classes

Life gets loud. Work, family, responsibilities. It all piles up, and somewhere in the mix, you get pushed to the back of the line. Our adult classes give you a space that’s yours: to move, to breathe, to build something in yourself that no one can take away. Whether you’re here to get fit, learn self-defense, or just finally do that thing you always wanted to do, we’ll make it worth your time.

Kids Martial Arts Classes

Every parent has felt it. That worry that your kid is too shy, too distracted, not quite finding their confidence yet. Our kids’ classes aren’t just about learning to kick. They’re about learning to listen, to try again after failing, to carry themselves with pride. The discipline your child builds on our mats follows them into the classroom, onto the field, and into life.

Ninja Sharks Ages 3 to 6 Classes

These are the wild ones. The wigglers, the gigglers, the kids who don’t yet know how to stand in line. And honestly? We love them for it. Our Ninja Sharks program is built from the ground up for little ones who have big energy and need gentle guidance. They’ll learn focus, basic movements, and, most importantly, that they can do hard things. The pride on a three-year-old’s face when they earn something? Nothing like it.

Special Needs Martial Arts Classes

Every student deserves a place where they belong. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and for students who need a little more flexibility in how they learn and move, we adapt. Our instructors modify techniques to fit each individual and not the other way around. Your child will be challenged, celebrated, and never left behind.

Birthday Parties

Skip the bowling alley. Give them something they’ll actually talk about Monday morning. Our birthday parties bring the energy, the fun, and a whole lot of martial arts magic. No experience required, just bring the birthday kid and the crew.

Why Action Karate

Because "Fine" Isn't Good Enough for Your Child. Or for You.

When you walk through our doors, you’re not just signing up for a class. You’re joining something that has been changing lives in this community for over two decades.

World Champions in Your Corner

Our head instructor, Master Anthony Lewis Atkins, is a seven-time world champion and NASKA certified. That level of mastery doesn't just mean better technique. It means your child is learning from someone who knows exactly what it takes to push past doubt and come out the other side stronger. Excellence has a way of rubbing off.

A 1% Better Philosophy That Actually Sticks

"1% better each day." It sounds simple, but it's quietly transformative. We don't ask students to be perfect. We ask them to be slightly better than yesterday. Over weeks, over months, over years. That compounds into something remarkable. It's the kind of mindset shift that changes how your child handles a bad grade, how you handle a stressful week, how both of you show up for the things that matter.

Inclusive by Design, Not by Accident

We don't add inclusion as an afterthought. Whether a student is shy, struggles with focus, has special needs, or just hasn't found their thing yet, we modify, we adapt, and we never give up on a student. One of our most cherished moments? A quiet student who rarely speaks raised her hand to lead the student creed in front of the entire class. That moment didn't happen by chance. It happened because of how we teach.

Black belt Journey: Started when I was 3 and didn’t have enough grit. Joined back when I was 13. I have been in love with the program and especially the Thursday class. I now am in the LIT program. I could not be more happy ,and proud, to be a part of the Action Karate Huntingdon Valley. There have been many challenges so far and many more to come as I test for my first degree back belt.

My experience at Action Karate Huntingdon Valley was one of my most rigorous, yet rewarding experiences. I had begun my journey in 5th grade out of curiosity for the sport. However, the responsibility and discipline learned in karate led me to overcome one of my greatest obstacles: Scoliosis. In seventh grade, I suffered from a significant form of Scoliosis. I had to have a spinal fusion surgery in order to correct my posture. This experience was challenging for both myself and my family. I returned to my usual activities 3 to 4 months after my surgery. Initially, my doctors had recommended to have modified activities while working at karate. My instructors were very encouraging and patient while I got back to my routine. As time progressed, more restrictions were lifted as my spine had stabilized.
Action Karate has been extremely supportive in my physical and mental development. This discipline has taught me to be physically strong and mentally tough. As I get ready to test for my junior blackbelt, I will always keep in mind what I’ve been taught: it’s okay to struggle, but it’s not okay to quit.

Mr. Clark at Action Karate is a dedicated and hard working teacher who shows such care for each student. He spent an hour plus talking to my son about why he was struggling to get to karate and he's been coming every week ever since. All the instructors are AMAZING and talented. I live the value lessons that accompany the karate classes. Thank you!

Action Karate Huntington Valley is a welcoming karate school with an awesome team of passionate and dedicated individuals. I love it here because the instructors are always smiling, seemingly enjoying themselves, kindly and respectfully corrects mistakes / behaviors and has taught my 6 year old son things that’ll stick with him throughout his life. We’ve been attending for about 3 years and my son is so much more confident, disciplined, helps more at home (without asking most times), participates in school, shows grit and displays better self-control as well as self-defense. I truly believe the saying “it takes a village to raise a child” and I can happily say Action Karate Huntington Valley is certainly a part of our village.

Since starting last year, my daughter Cynthia has learned self confidence, self control, and self awareness. The staff are always helpful & supportive. Always keeping her focused on the goal in front of her. We love coming every week and learning new techniques as well as socializing with the other students. Don't forget about the family events. I absolutely love this place and the people.

Also.....we have the legendary Sensei Atkins!

I can’t say enough about how much the Action Karate Huntingdon Valley school has helped my children with their confidence, perseverance and respect. We trained at the school for 7 years and it becomes a family. Everyone is there to support each other and help each other improve. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a karate school in the area.

Our Story

We've Been Building This Community Since 2005

Action Karate Huntingdon Valley didn’t appear overnight. It was built class by class, student by student, over 20 years of showing up. Through report cards that surprised parents in the best way, through kids who were told they couldn’t and proved everyone wrong, through adults who found something they didn’t even know they were looking for.

What happens on our mats doesn’t stay on our mats. Students carry it into classrooms, friendships, and the moments in life that ask the most of them.
Kids who resist rules often thrive once they understand what those rules unlock. The discipline we teach opens doors: academically, socially, and personally.
We’ve watched three-year-olds find their voice and adults find their purpose. Age is not a barrier here. Hesitation is the only thing standing between you and starting.
We’re neighbors teaching neighbors. When a student from Lower Moreland School District earns their first stripe, their whole family feels it. That’s what we’re in this for.

I’d love teaching the Ninja Sharks age group to see them grow and overcome, and just see the joy in their face when they earned something by doing their best.
