Classes for Every Age, Every Goal

From your fearless three-year-old to your teenager who needs a positive outlet after school, we have a program built exactly for where they are right now. And designed to take them further than they imagine.

Adult Martial Arts Classes

It’s never too late to start. Whether you’re after fitness, self-defense, or just something that’s finally yours, adult training at Action Karate Oreland will challenge and change you in the best possible way.

Kids Martial Arts Classes

More than kicks and blocks. Kids come in shy or unfocused and leave standing taller, listening better, and handling hard moments with calm. That’s what happens when training is structured, positive, and taught by people who genuinely care.

Ninja Sharks Ages 3 to 6 Classes

Big energy, little legs, and a whole lot of fun. Ninja Sharks is our earliest program, designed to build listening skills, body coordination, and confidence in a safe, playful environment that three- to six-year-olds absolutely love.

Special Needs Martial Arts Classes

Every child deserves a place where they feel capable and seen. Our instructors are trained to adapt to different learning needs, working at each student’s pace with patience, encouragement, and real structure.

Birthday Parties

Trade the bowling alley for something they’ll actually talk about on Monday. Action Karate birthday parties bring the fun, the movement, and the memories. Right here in Oreland.

Why Action Karate

The Difference Shows Up at Home, Not Just on the Mat

Choosing an after-school activity isn’t just about keeping kids busy. It’s about who they’re becoming. Here’s why Oreland families choose us and stay.

Character comes first, always

Every class at Action Karate Oreland reinforces the same values: respect, discipline, and perseverance. Not as rules posted on a wall but as habits practiced every single session until they stick, at school and at the dinner table.

Real instructors, real investment

Our team is background-checked, safety-certified, and genuinely excited to be here. They know your child's name, they notice when something's off, and they celebrate every breakthrough, from a first roll to a first belt.

A community, not just a class

From summer camps to Springfield Township Community Day to school programs across the district, we show up for Oreland families far beyond our front door. When you join Action Karate, you join something bigger than a gym.

Our Space

A Training Floor Built for Kids to Grow Into

Our Oreland location was purpose-built for real training in a welcoming, family-friendly environment, tucked right in the heart of the neighborhood, steps from the Oreland Train Station.
From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll feel the difference: a clean, professional, purpose-built space where students can train safely, focus fully, and feel proud to be part of something.

My mom first got me into Action Karate when I was 11, she knew I loved karate.
On my first day I didn’t want to talk to anyone, I was scared, but after seeing how nice the people were, I eventually warmed up. In all the time I've been at Action Karate, the people there are kind to me, I made friends along the way and still meeting new people. Action Karate helped me prepare for tournament which built up my confidence. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to perform well or even show up. Now I'm a red belt and I have so many people encouraging and helping me prepare for Black belt test. Action Karate really made me a more confident person.

We love Action Karate Oreland. They are so invested in the kids. The instructors really go above and beyond to know and teach each student. They emphasize character building as well as martial arts excellence. There are lots of helpers so each kid gets plenty of attention. They are especially good with special needs kids.

We’ve been training at Action Karate Oreland since they opened. It started with our middle child’s determination to try martial arts and an open house where our kids were immediately engaged. Neither my husband nor I had ever dreamt of trying martial arts so we were a little hesitant at first. That anxiety quickly evaporated as the Sudes welcomed us all onto the mat and into the AKO family. Now, three and a half amazing years later, we’re a house that trains together and has this amazing extended family at AKO. We’ve grown tremendously on the mat with all us having earned a black belt (which is just the start of our karate journey) as well as becoming involved as instructors/junior leaders. The kids confidence has skyrocketed both on and off the mat and they are constantly learning valuable life skills through the well designed curricula that’s taught by dedicated, caring, and knowledgeable fellow martial artists and AKO family members. The Sudes and their leadership team are beyond spectacular!! We absolutely love it here!!

Action Karate Oreland is a welcoming community of martial artists who share the common goals to build self discipline and self control, and where team work, kindness, and respect for others is the norm. Whether you're 7 or 70, if you've never tried martial arts or always wanted to but haven't yet, then please come check out Action Karate Oreland and join us. I'm in that "almost 70" group and it's been fantastic! I've gained so much from our instructors and fellow martial artists - I feel so much better and confident every day.

I can honestly say that joining Action Karate Oreland has been the single best thing I've every done for myself 🙂 From the moment I walked into the building two years ago, I was welcomed like an old friend and made to feel right at home -- a vast difference from almost every gym/workout facility I've visited or (briefly) joined.

The warmth, encouragement and sheer FUN of the AKO classes is something that's hard to imagine until you've experienced it. And there's a special joy in seeing people of all ages (I'm 69!), from all walks of life, coming together with a common goal: to learn, to grow ... and to help each other do that, too. We cheer each other on during belt-testing sessions and tournaments, and I don't think there's ever a dry eye in the house when watching our classmates tie on their black belts for the very first time

My son attends Action Karate Oreland and absolutely loves it. The instructors are always so kind and helpful, making sure each child gets attention/support during the class. There is a real sense of community there, and I would definitely recommend AKO to anyone thinking about giving it a try!

Rohaan's journey through the belt progression has been nothing short of amazing. He is generally a reserved person and I have seen him develop friendships with his classmates. He has the biggest heart of anyone I personally know and the fortitude to reach the goals he sets, despite their difficulty, as evidenced by him reaching the Jr. Black Belt promotion.

He is a young man who honors his word, he excels at everything he takes on and I see that reflected especially in his effort during class. I can't say how solid his kata forms are from the perspective of the truly great instructors at AKO (Action Karate Oreland), but when I hear and see the strength of his kicks, punches, and combinations, they seem strong and solid.

The common wisdom of old was, "It takes a village" and as Rohaan's father (and mother), we have tried to share all that we have learned in our lives to help him become an upstanding, compassionate, empathetic, caring, moral, ethical, and strong young man. However, it would be unjust and untrue if we take all the credit. The wisdom, discipline, patience, fortitude, and the art of karate that he has learned at AKO has been a part of our village and I tip my hat to Mr. and Mrs. Sude and staff for all the contributions they have made in helping our son reach his potential as a young man.

The journey has been amazing and I look forward to sharing my daughters journey in a few short months when she attempts her Jr. Black Belt.

My deepest and sincerest gratitude to AKO for the part you have played in our son's development!

Thank you and my best wishes for this community-centric dojo's success.

Meet the Team

Choosing a martial arts school is about more than the curriculum. Here’s why Bethlehem families train with us.

Our Story

Rooted in Oreland Since 2022

Action Karate Oreland opened its doors in 2022 with a simple mission: give this community a place where kids become better versions of themselves, one class at a time. In just a few years, we’ve built a school that Oreland families genuinely call home, showing up not just for classes, but for tournaments, community events, and the kind of milestones parents actually remember.

The mat is the first place many of our students learn that they can do hard things. That belief travels with them to the classroom, to the playground, and eventually far beyond Oreland.
Martial arts training is structured by design. Students learn to follow instructions quickly, wait their turn, and respect the process. Parents consistently tell us this is the first change they notice at home.
Progress in karate isn’t always linear and that’s the point. Learning to fall, reset, and try again builds the kind of resilience no worksheet can teach. Martial arts teaches children how to handle setbacks gracefully, whether that’s a technique that takes weeks to master or a tough day at school. They learn that effort matters more than perfection.
Our classes move together, challenge each other, and celebrate each other. The friendships formed on our mat have a way of lasting long after belts are earned.

Martial arts helped shape my confidence, discipline, and mindset growing up, and I wanted to be able to pass that on and make that same impact on my students.
