Action Karate Royersford has been the best decision we made for our son. He was very shy and sensitive to things and in the 3 to 4 months of him joining, His self- confidence has grown and even his teachers at school have seen the difference. He is so proud of himself and proud to be a ninja lol. He loves all his instructors and so do we. They and the other members have welcomed us with open arms and make it very easy talk and ask questions.
We can wait to see how much more he will acheive this year and coming years.

Action Karate Royersford (AKR) is an awesome place! When my children joined, one of them was so shy she wouldn’t even go on the mat. Ms. Shannon and Ms. Devin are wonderful instructors who not only teach karate and self defense but life skills. My children are more confident and take on challenges. Our children love it so much, they convinced us parents to join. In addition to teaching, they have fun family activities. Everyone at AKR creates a wonderful community encouraging and helping each other. We all enjoy going to karate together. Families that kick together, stick together. I highly recommend AKR!

Action Karate Royersford opened in 2021 with a clear purpose: give families in this community a place where kids could grow and adults could invest in themselves. What is the style of martial arts that you teach?

At Action Karate Royersford, we teach Tang Soo Do — a Korean martial art that builds focus, coordination, and practical self-defence alongside the character traits that show up long after class ends. The school is led by Program Director Devin Sinclair, a 1st Degree Black Belt with 7 years of experience and a teaching approach rooted in embracing how unpredictably different students learn. Instructor Shannon Gilmour, a 2nd Degree Black Belt also with 7 years in the martial arts, adds a highly adaptive instructional style — adjusting in the moment to how each student actually processes information.

When can I attend classes at Action Karate Royersford?

What should I wear to my first class?

Just come comfortable. For your first session at Action Karate Royersford, loose clothing you can move in is all you need. Your uniform (gi) is included in the $49 intro offer. Bare feet on the mat, no shoes required.
